ARCHIPELAGO
In its latest issue every two months (83-84) the magazine Announces ARCHIPELAGO (unfortunate) demise. As always when it comes to culture, the damn "dibs" seems to be the culprit, but also the loss of readers. a new low in the small group of English quality journals.
I remember I met this interesting publication in 1989 in the library, periodicals Manolo Sanchez's friend in the street opened San Pablo Alfaro corner. Although it may have been in Araceli, also missing the Classroom Library Street Góngora. Acquired the number 2 of 850 pesetas.
Since then, almost without realizing it's been twenty years. Twenty years in which, by subscription, Archipelago has accompanied me, first quarterly, then bimonthly. Although I still missing the first issue (sold out) to complete the collection.
In its pages I discovered later famous authors such as Beck Ulric, or I went to the work of other interesting but little known as George Santayana . I admired people like Simone Weil y disfruté de la inteligencia e independencia de pensadores como Naredo , Ibáñez , Lizcano , García Calvo y tantos otros que nunca hubiera conocido sin la existencia de esta revista. En los últimos años incluso se incluían artículos publicados bajo licencia Creative Commons , lo que nos de idea de la modernidad y coherencia con sus principios de la publicación que ahora nos deja.
Echaré de mucho de menos esta publicación de pensamiento independiente, libre y libertario. Y su ramillete de colaboradores inteligentes, críticos y generosos. Echaré en falta este espacio de reflexión y libertad. Echaré de menos this "set of islands linked by what separates" as defined their name. I will miss this unique publication in our country. Not
