out to see the archaeological appeared after heavy rains sustained in Aguilar de la Frontera the fateful August 16. We're surprised the terrible effects of what could be a much greater catastrophe. Roads destroyed, trees swept away, families ruined.
The site is secure. It is Sunday and many local people come to see it: families with children, elderly, people more ... On foot or by car, travel the road was again partially feasible thanks to the work of the machines had to clear tons of mud, asphalt, trees and reeds.
After the railway bridge, which acted as a dam damming a large body of water whose pressure finally breaking that huge "cap", there are the remains that we were seeking. Most striking is a basin or pond that may have served to store and decant oil. In the surrounding blocks abound after the remains of tegulae and ceramics. And the graves, some of them already excavated. Below appear several longitudinal trenches together by a kind of any channels, this detail with its shallow depth, suggests that this is not a tomb but irrigated cropping system. In short, we might find ourselves in a Roman villa similar to Almedinilla , do your part to farm and associated cemetery. Time will tell.
Return to the town or city and enjoy its wonderful friendly chat Ochavada Plaza. Thanks to Paco Cabezas, our gracious host, we met a lot of interesting details of this locality. And what we have seen, Aguilar has made us look like a very attractive town, with a huge equity poorly appreciated.
Hopefully the site will not be destroyed or ignored. And one day become a tourist attraction. Although, at present, what need is more aid Aguilar, a lot of help to repair the enormous damage caused by the tragedy.
